Its not so very long ago that private concessions were granted for the Kruger National Park. Jocks Safari Lodge was a pioneer from the very beginning. Its owner was granted 6,000 hectares here in the southern part of the park.

In the fascinating surroundings of Jocks Safari Lodge, you can go on excellent walking trips. But only with an armed ranger please. Because even though nature seems so friendly, this is the Kruger National Park after all and wild animals lurk everywhere.

|
Nestling between the mountains and valleys of Berg en Dal, Lower Sabie, Pretoriuskoo and Skukuza, youll find rocks of granite everywhere here on the flat grass plains.

Who are the animals on the look-out for? Have they perhaps discovered a bushman?

Jocks Safari Lodge is surrounded on all sides by untamed landscape. It is a paradise for wild animals that have found a safe home in this almost never-ending expanse.

|
The lodge is a successful mix of traditional and modern. Native architectural shapes bring to mind old building traditions. Its the heart of the Shanga Zulu that is still pumping through the veins of the surroundings here today.

Open doors under thatched roofs with Cape Dutch gables bid guests a welcome at the entrance to the Main Lodge. You go straight into the restaurant on the ground floor. One floor higher, the pool with its large sun-deck is waiting. From here, you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the streaming water. Where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti Rivers meet.

The subtly furnished parlour of the main lodge is modern in an extremely tasteful way.

Here, the art of reduction is demonstrated on the basis of selected pieces of furniture. Nothing is overdone. Everything is positioned properly.

Like in an elaborately built tree-house, you move on wooden platforms through the grounds of the Main Lodge. Traditional tools hanging on barn-like walls recall the life and work of the early settlers.

The thick bushland has an exotic stock of trees: Typical South African giants like the Cobretum, Marula and Jackelberry trees have grown from small saplings all round Jocks Safari Lodge
|
|
|
You can enjoy close proximity to the bush even during mealtimes. The spacious outside terrace gives the guest a tasteful experience of nature. Here, almost only natural materials have been used with a lot of feeling for the surroundings.

A gourmet breakfast on hand-woven bast mats simply tastes twice as good.

100 years ago, Sir Percy Fitzpatrick came by with his faithful dog Jock in an ox-cart like this one. Many legends tell of this famous gold-digger. Jocks therefore has very strong links to this tradition.

Twelve luxurious private suites are harmoniously integrated into the bushland. Straw, stone and glass play important roles here. Every suite has its own Sala. The ideal platform on which to lie in wait. A wild animal is sure to come by down by the river: an elephant, a rhinoceros or even a lion perhaps

The bathroom has been completely furnished in Victorian style. But the wilderness still comes in. Either through the high glass fronts or by means of the lovingly embroidered motifs on the towels - the jungle is everywhere.
|
|
Heavenly views can be enjoyed in the romantic bedrooms too. Bedded all in white, let the green wilderness run through your mind in your dreams again. Perhaps a fire is even crackling in your own fireplace. The raw smell of burning logs, exotic sounds from afar, the familiar safety of closeness and undreamt-of images awake
