Ellerman House: The historic building is surrounded by parks.
Ellerman House is a fascinating example of English-inspired architecture from the early twenties. In 1912, this Edwardian-style aristocratic building was the private residence of a sea captain with romantic tendencies who wished to observe the ships sailing out of their South African homeland into the expanse of the Atlantic. In 1962, the shipowner Sir John Ellerman was spellbound by enchanting charm of this magnificent estate.

Ellerman House is located only a few minutes from the centre of the fascinating metropolis of Cape Town. Its exposed position above the sea offers fantastic views in all directions. At the foot of the hotel lie the heavenly beaches of Bantry Bay, sheltered from the wind. The famous Clifton Beach is also only a few minutes' walk away.
Unassuming hospitality and soothing quiet make Ellerman House a popular hideaway for famous guests from all over the world. But it's not only guests in the public eye who appreciate the remarkable attentiveness and absolute discretion.

On the inviting breakfast veranda, you can enjoy the mild morning sun at the beginning of the day. All round the splendid mansion, idyllic look-out points invite you to linger for a while. From almost everywhere you can enjoy uninterrupted views over the deep blue Atlantic out onto Robben Island where today the museum for South Africa's freedom fighters is located. Seals and penguins like to gather on this small island today, too.
