The venerable house gives its guests a really friendly welcome. The historic buildings of this exclusive country hotel are almost 300 years old. Originally built by a Dutchman in 1707, the restored Cape Dutch manor house is still regarded today as an architectural masterpiece.
The exclusive hotel complex lies like a small idyllic village at the foot of the Paarl Mountains. Grande Roche got its name from the 7000-m high granite rock. They say that it sparkles like a pearl in the sun after it's rained.

The hotel is a real pearl, too. With it's traditional thatched roofs and thick walls in brilliant white, the façade has a rural look about it. Grande Roche is considered to be the epitome of luxury and traditional hospitality. It has won several accolades for its exclusive standards.
The rustic charm of whole of the exterior is captivating. Green and white form a natural pair here: refined and rural. The white lattice windows open out onto the lush greenery.
You can enjoy a marvellous view out onto the romantic gardens from the individual suites.

Vines as far as the eye can see. It's like being in the Garden of Eden. Except that the grapes don't grow up into the skies here. But the grapes are close enough to pick though. The most beautiful flowers spread their wonderfully delicate fragrance in the rose garden every year, attracting fairy-tale creatures…

A historic herdsman's hut has been converted into the "Kraal" in Grande Roche. This noble oasis of fitness invites you for a healthy work-out on state-of-the-art equipment. A visit to the steam bath or the sauna followed by a massage complete the wellness programme.

You'll enjoy spending relaxing hours by one of the two large communal pools. Those wishing to play golf or tennis, or who intend to explore the picturesque vineyards in the valleys on foot, by mountain bike, on a Harley Davidson or as in the olden times, on horseback, will find the hotel offers all the best requirements.

Bosman's has won many awards and is renowned far beyond the South African border. Located in the manor house, this excellent hotel restaurant with its elegant ambience is named after the Dutchman Hermanus Bosman, the former founder of the wine-growing estate. Its award-winning gourmet food with excellent delicacies from classic French belle cuisine will spoil guests. A wine cellar with an excellent selection of almost 450 exquisite wines promises culinary delights of a very special kind.
Opulent décor welcomes guests in the W. A. Klerk lounge. Large glass chandeliers, mirrors with gold frames and subdued colours create a lavish ambience.

Tall candlesticks flank the open fireplace next to the well-stocked library. The gentle open fire in the hearth sheds its warm light onto the interior decoration. The under-stated elegance of the antique furniture gives the room its special dignity. Conferences are occasionally held here in this comfortable setting, too.
The individually designed private rooms also offer relaxation at a high level. Here you can see how rustic charm and elegant modern conveniences can be optimally combined.
The suites have been restored with a good deal of consideration and feeling for the former structure. Thick stone walls and classic arches give this historic masonry its special charm.

Batavia, Sapphire, Bonsai, Jasmine .. each suite has its own name. And they're all individually decorated with enchanting floral designs. The photo on the right here shows the really romantic Honeymoon Suite. The former stable has been converted into this truly luxurious accommodation.
A high ceiling with wooden beams separates the living and sleeping areas of the duplex suites, which extend over two floors. A stone staircase leads up into the spacious bedroom. Here, too, luxury of the highest quality predominates all around.

The modern mural beneath the high ceiling construction in one of the Terrace Suites shows the peaks of the surrounding Drakenstein Mountains. This is a view that you can enjoy from many of the windows, too.
The Terrace Suites have their own loggias. From this small refuge, twined around with vines, the eye wanders out into the wonderful green Winelands.

In the evenings, the warm light of the bedside lamps gives the bedroom a charming atmosphere.

The exclusive bathrooms, decorated in modern style throughout, are also another special place of refuge. Clear lines and simple elegance are characteristic of the comfortable interiors.

Grande Roche presents its guests with an extensive collection of valuable African antiques, jewellery and typical local souvenirs.
The exclusive store in the manor house is a true treasure trove of African handicrafts and antiques, carved sticks and figures, exquisite household utensils, wickerwork and earthenware, not forgetting the beautiful coloured beadwork.
These rarities out of the African jewellery box are unique.
